About

Jambo! My name is Jolien (or Jolene, as people tend to call me abroad).
Life, love, and a hunger for adventure has led me to Africa, where I lived, worked and travelled for several years as an interior designer. On this journey I worked closely with local craftsmen and woman, sourcing original African craft and creating highly individual decor and interiors from natural materials alongside these artisans.

I have always been inspired by the strength of these men and women, who work tirelessly to support their families. Through hand weaving baskets, carving wooden sculptures or crafting arts they can raise their children and keep their heritage alive.

I believe in offering a tangible empowerment to these artisans. With each basket you purchase, an African mama can buy rice and vegetables for their daily meal. With each hand-carved item an African baba can send his kids to school. It`s honest and straightforward. I don`t believe in a barter trade of buying and selling, in any part of the world for that matter. By developing healthy and sustainable relationships we can all contribute to a more peaceful present and future. By investing in durable, quality and authentic pieces we can broaden our worlds and enlighten our homes.

I want to use this platform to give all these craftsmen and woman I met over the years a voice to tell their story, from the beating heart of Africa into your home.

I hope to see you soon!
Jolien xx
